Breeding Diet I feed my lovebirds seed mix and fruit and vegetables as usual with loads of fresh water and cuttlefish bone (calcium). The grit pot should be changed daily as some birds are picky and only eat a certain size of grit.Grit is used in breeding season especially because the parents need it to mash up there food in the parents gizzard for the chicks. Nesting Materials! Each different species uses different materials to build nests and some don`t even build a nest.
