In a ideal world Lovebirds should be kept in pairs in single flights but some people dont have the time, money or space to do this. So colony breeding is adopted instead.
Can I keep Quails with Lovebirds?
Yes, you can keep Quail with Lovebirds. But I would advise you to keep them with the larger species such as Japanese Quail or Italian Quail because they are quite large and can scare off the Lovebirds. Try not to keep them with the smaller of the species such as Chinese Painted Quail because they would most definetly get attacked becayse they are small and weak. But whatever you do not keep Lovebirds with rare or exspensive quail as if they get attacked and killed they would of been a waste of money, and could ruin the relationship with the owner and Lovebirds.
Can I keep any other birds with Lovebirds?
Probably, you could keep Lovebirds with larger Parakeets such as Indian Ringnecks. But only on a racio of 1 parakeet to every 2 Lovebirds. I would not advise you to keep them with any birds at all because they are so vicious (except quail). Definetly do not keep them with any other birds in breeding season (except quail). But the risk is up to you whever you want to pay a lot of money for a pair of ringnecks and then seeing them getting tortured and then ruining you relationship with your Lovebirds.
