Breeing Basics
Every time a pair of lovebirds breed the incubation time and fledging time are different. The incubation and fledging time can be different due to a warm weather, cold weather a non-humid nest box. Each different species has different incubation and fledging time. Go to my "The Different Kinds" page to see the different species incubation and fledging time and to see my breeding diet go to my "diet page".

Nest Boxes
The nest boxes should be made of sustainable wood because there beaks are very strong. They should have a inspection box and to check on eggs and chicks. The access hole should be just a bit smaller than the actual birds, so the hen can chew it to make the size she wants

This one of the kinds of nestbox i use, its ideal for peachfaced.

The nestbox should be cleaned out at least every six months even if has not been bred in. Wire on front of the nestboxes helps protect it from the lovebirds destructive beaks. Also it give easy access to the birds & chicks. But don`t forget to smooth off the edges to avoid injures. I keep my nestboxes in all year round to give them somewhere to roost. But every March i empty them so the birds start from fresh and no parasites can breed and kill the chicks and eggs.
